Mid Jersey Cape Rotary Club was Chartered April 25th 1968  with a total of 31 members.  (Charles "Chick" Mears only active charter member)  The first President was Edward J Carter and the meetings were held on Thursday at 6:45 PM at Carter's Restaurant (currently known as Holly Redeemer Visting Nurses Agency)  The Sponsoring Club was Wildwood.

Most Rotary Clubs have the name of the City incorporated into their name, not "Mid Jersey Cape". District Governor William H Cantwell  spent an entire evening and part of another day going over the question of the name, and other details with the Cub and their first choice was "Mid Jersey Cape"- the reason for this being that Cape May Court House is the center of a large district and the towns of Stone Harbor, Avalon, Dennisville and other communities are a part of this big area

"Mid Jersey Cape" is an excellent description and they feel covers the territory and is much more descriptive than Cape May Court House.  The Name was approved by Rotary International Board of Directors and rest is history.
